The right page is one of my favorites from this journal. It was one of those happy accidents. Planned on drawing and coloring it in differently, and came upon this which I really liked. I love those happy accidents.

Here's my song of the day.
I have a confession. I never liked the Smiths, but I always liked their songs. You would probably say I like the Smiths in that case, but I didn't want to like them. Then I came up with the conclusion that I just don't like Morrissey himself. Why let one person ruin it for me?

I just finished coloring it up right before posting. Just consists of random sketches, for personal and school projects.

I discovered a new band recently that I can't get enough of. Keep Shelly In Athens - they're a band from Greece, go figure. Being 100% Greek, it's exciting to hear something from there that peaks my interest. I'm not a big fan of traditional Greek music, or their pop songs. Just not my thing. But Keep Shelly In Athens is great and right up my alley. Give them a listen. They're wonderful.

Life drawing sketch from a previous class + other doodles. "Vampyra" was a name that was tested out in my old "band" back in middle school with old friends. We tested out many band names, but never decided on an official one. I played with a logo for this name when it was an option.

Been keeping my self busy and been pretty productive this week, I'm proud. Can't wait to share!

It's been a few weeks since I've posted a page from my art journal. I almost forgot to today! I've been so out of that Thursday habit. Time to get back into it.

Besides the fact that classes ended on Monday, this week has been pretty wonderful. Caught up with friends, went on adventures, and karaoke-d last night. The wonderful part is that this week will only get better! Got great plans coming up this weekend. I need to remember to take photos!

I've been on a big Talking Heads kick this week as well. I came across this amazing live version of Burning Down The House - may possibly be better than the studio version!

Been working hard this week to finish up assignments; hasn't been much of a Spring break, but you got to do what you got to do. Took a five minute break to finish up these pages for today.

Today's weather was wonderful! As soon as I walked outside, I was hit with Spring fever. I SO wanted to skip class and enjoy the fabulous sunny day, but of course that would make me a bad student. So I dragged myself to class.
I honestly can't wait 'till Spring comes around. I just want to retire my winter coat.
But until then, I'll just focus on the here and now. This weekend is jam-packed with events that I plan on attending. Luckily I really don't have any assignments I need to work on for next week. Finally a relaxing weekend full of friends!

Anyway, it's a few hours away from officially being Friday, so while it's still Thursday, here's a page from my art journal. This is actually my last page from this book! Page 05 from 001. Under The Milky Way.
Mental note for next Thursday: start posting pages in numerical order and fight the urge to skip. I went so out of order when I posted pages from this book.

I got an e-mail today from the Silversun Pickups newsletter. They officially announced a release date for their new album. I am BEYOND excited and I can't wait till they start posting up new songs! From what they're saying, it sounds strange and dreamy - right up my ally!. Here's the article I read from Spin.com.

It's crazy how fast the weeks go by when you stick to a weekly post. Out of all weekly posts I've created, this is the one that I've been really committed to. Whenever a Thursday rolls around, all I can think is "damn that came by fast".

A couple of years, a few friends and I created a kind of event booking company called All Heart. We organized a couple of local shows including local bands, and raised money for different charities and organizations. We started it I think a year before most of us hit college. So when we all went our separate ways for education purposes, All Heart was put on the back burner. We would try to revisit it here and there, planning events and such, but they always fell through. It was tough trying to focus on it when we all had to focus on school, and was especially tough being that we spread out across the U.S. After discussions and plannings, we revisited it last summer, renamed it Spark Booking. Once again it's on the back burner. I'm sure we'll keep revisiting it, but who knows what the future holds for Spark. For now, it brings back good and stressful memories, hah! The Long Island music scene was so different then.
Besides the All Heart logo I created, I have sketches of my monster box, Gordon Cole from Twin Peaks, and doodles from notebooks glued in.

The cool thing about this week is that three, THREE!, classes were cancelled. My only class I have on Thursdays is one of them. I started a new TV series yesterday, Pushing Daisies. I've been wanting to watch it for a long time. When I heard it was a spin-off of Dead Like Me, I decided to watch that series first before Pushing Daisies. Finally got around to watching a bit yesterday. Half-way into the first episode, I fell head over heels in love with it. Being that there's no class today, I plan on watching it all day while doing homework assignments! I love having days off. I'm so excited to continue this series!

This Stevie Nicks song came on the radio while I was typing up this post. I love this song, so I'll make it my song of the moment.

It's such a nice day outside! Does this mean that Spring is officially coming, and Winter is on it's way out? I wouldn't mind that so much. This Winter was not so Winter-like. But I don't think I mind it so much. We did get snow this season, so I think it's okay to move on to nicer weather.

Drew a picture of The Raveonettes. Colored them in with gel pens. Remember gel pens? I have a whole case of them that are still good. I use them once in a while; I should really use them more. They're fun!
Also wrote a quote from an I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness song.

To end this post, here's a video by The Cure. This song has got to be one of my favorite songs in the world, and I think it's perfect for sunny warm days like this. Such a dreamy atmosphere.

I made a few changes to my book last night. I've officially decided to call them 'art journals'! I don't know why I never thought of that phrase before, but it sure does makes sense.
After that life-changing moment, I went in and numbered my pages. I purposely hidden them in each page, but they're all there.
After THAT, I decided to keep track of each book by numbering them and giving them a little title on the spine. To go with this outer-space/galaxy theme I started, I called this one Under The Milky Way, named after The Church song.
With that all being said, I went back and revisited blog posts and put in the page numbers of each page. I also put the journal name, even though all previous posts are from the same book.

I used white fabric paint to write it out. It doesn't seem to be that readable, so I may go over it with a darker colored fabric paint.

Edit: I went over it with orange fabric paint. It's more clear, but not so clear in the photo.

For the actual page, I finished this one up last night. They're quick drawings of Kat Bjelland and Eva Green. It's the last page of this book, page 12. This is probably one of my favorite pages from this book.

This week has been busy, busy, busy. I have to say though, I know it's still real early in the semester, but I feel like I'll have more time to breathe. I don't think things will be as hectic as they were last semester, and I'm really excited for that. I have spare time, which is wonderful!

Last night, I was rearranging things in my room. It's looking good, and not as cluttered.
I dug out these little fold-able containers that I used when I lived in the dorms. I didn't know what to use them for. Then last night I decided to fill one with colored tissue paper and the other with magazine scraps. I don't have it in me to throw out scraps that I know I could use. So why not keep them accessible in cute little containers like these?

And my song of the moment is by The Raveonettes, one of my top favorite bands. They're releasing a new EP in March and I'm super psyched. I love everything they release, and I'm so happy that they're finding their sound, which is perfect. I can't wait to hear their new songs.

I set up my Etsy account today. I apparently created an account years ago when I made my first purchase. Made things easier knowing that I had a preexisting account. I think I'll list some items soonish.

My song of the moment is by Surf City! I love bands from New Zealand. They truly are a breath of fresh air.

Turns out my computer problems are more serious than I thought. I've had my desktop for over six years, and only needed to get it repaired once. It hurts me to know that I may need to part ways with my computer and get a new one. I haven't quite figured out what move I want to make yet, but in the meantime I'm going to have to get reacquainted with my laptop. Hopefully I'll get this problem all sorted before the new semester starts.

Anyway, to keep my mind off of my dilemma, I decided to fill in my hand made books. I play around here and there, but I did some intense gluing and coloring today.

My first post of the new year!
I didn't mean to neglect the blog, but my internet has been down for about a week and just got it back today. I didn't let it bring me down, so I took advantage and stayed productive! Saw friends, went shopping, cleaned, and sewed. I feel pretty accomplished.

Anyway, now that I'm back it's time to get down to business. It's Thursday!

The past two weeks I've decided to make time to watch television shows that were on my "list of things to watch". I'm all caught up with American Horror Story [I'm hooked] and Portlandia [I'm hooked on that too]. Being that they're both fresh shows, it wasn't hard to watch their first seasons in full. Life has been more entertaining now that those shows have entered my life. I'll definitely be keeping up with Portlandia this season. I accidentally caught the first episode of the new season on Friday! I take that as a sign; it's meant to be.

This is the intro of the pilot, which sums up everything of the show. It is hilarious and the song is SO damn catchy.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, to those who celebrate. To those who don't, I hope you're enjoying the holiday season. I've been so overwhelmed with the holiday this year, it didn't hit me that in a few days, it'll be a new year! This holiday season really snuck up on us, huh.

I also realized that I haven't posted in a while. My creativity juices have been flowing and I've been taking advantage. Been doing things. I'm proud of myself. I'm involved in a few different projects at the moment, but that's how I do. Page 04, in my 001. Under The Milky Way art journal.

Here is the book I made years ago which features all the pages that I've shown so far. Accordion styled book with 6 pages/12 sides. Made the book from cardboard, and old shirt (LOVE the pattern, which is why I decided to fill this book in first), and recycled paper.

Didn't get around to posting a Wishlist Wednesday yesterday. Was making pie for today, which came out wonderful!

Anyway, wish I had some kind of Thanksgiving illustration to share for today's post, but I have none. I'll just post what I would have posted if today wasn't a holiday.

On a side note (I love going off topic), I made a trip to Michaels yesterday to pick up a few supplies for school assignments. I picked up the Autumn issue of Mingle while I was there. It's a part of Stampington & Company. They publish so many great magazines perfect for arts and craft lovers. I always pick up something of theirs when I take a trip to an art store, and I think you should too. They truly are inspirational.

I like the idea of having a weekly post. It helps me make sure that I definitely will be posting.
I mentioned I like book making? Over the years I made quite a number of books and I didn't know what to do with them. So I decided that I'LL use them.

I'm all for reusing anything. I have two draws filled to the top with scrap paper. I like scribbling all over them and pasting them into my books to do collage type art in my books. I sometimes save little doodles I've drawn in class or wherever, cut them out, and paste them in too. REUSING! It's pretty fun.
So I guess every Thursday can be "Take A Page Out Of My Book Thursdays"? How exciting.

Did I also mention that I absolutely adore Danny Elfman? Well I'll mention it now. I LOVE him. He's a genius, and I draw him way too much. I may be a little too obsessed.
